Fantasy March Madness

Yes, there are plenty of people out making March Madness even better. Here’s how:

Pick X players in the Tournament. Give out one fantasy point for each point, rebound and assist. Whoever has the most fantasy points at the end wins. Simple yet beautiful.

Of course, the strategy here hinges on who you think will go deep in the Tournament. That’s obviously up for debate. But here are five of my favorite players to target if you’re playing in the pts/rebs/asts format:

1. Anthony Davis, C, Kentucky: The likely No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NBA draft is a good bet for a double-double almost every time out. Also has perhaps the best team, making at least four games likely.

2. Marcus Denmon, G, Missouri: This guard-oriented Mizzou team is built for 40 minutes of hell and a deep run. Denmon is there senior and leading scorer.

3. Thomas Robinson, F, Kansas: On paper, Kansas’ path to the Final Four appears easy. Robinson is a physical beast that will overpower smaller opponents.

4. Jared Sullinger, C, Ohio State: Much like Davis, Sullinger’s rebounding upside is monstrous in the first couple rounds.

5. Doug McDermott, F, Creighton: Here’s the sleeper play. Creighton is an eight-seed, but is built for a run thanks to McDermott. He averaged 23.2 points and 8.2 rebounds this season.
