Tiger Woods ends drought at Bay Hill
Tiger Woods is back on top of golf. And really, when you’ve won 71 PGA?Tour events, what’s two and a half years between victories?
Woods went into the final round of yesterday’s Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill with a one-stroke lead. By the time he’d played one hole he had a three stroke lead and after 18 holes he’d cruised to a two-under day and five-stroke win.
Just two weeks ago, Woods walked off the course at the Cadillac Championships after injuring his left Achilles’ tendon. And the downward spiral talk renewed itself again.
Woods answered in resounding fashion this weekend. Woods led the tournament in birdies made and stared down Graeme McDowel, who was ranked as high as No. 4 in the World Golf Rankings last season, in the final round.
Woods’ last win came Sept. 13, 2009 in the BMW Championship. He won six tournament that season and none since.
