Bryan Thomas continues on road back from injury

Bryan Thomas has spent his entire career with the Jets.

There were more positives for Jets linebacker Bryan Thomas on Wednesday, who built on the gains of Tuesday’s start to minicamp. Thomas, recovering from a torn left Achilles tendon suffered during the Week 4 loss at Baltimore last season, was the most active he’s been throughout the offseason.

He participated in drills with the defense, conditioning and saw limited snaps during 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 sessions. It was full-speed ahead for Thomas, who acknowledges that he still has a long ways to go, but it was a promising second day of minicamp.

“Did a couple reps in 11-on-11s today so that was good, but it is modified stuff. I’m not in there on running plays where there’d be a lot of pursuit or banging into people,” Thomas told Metro New York. “It’s getting there. I just need to build the strength back up.”

While Thomas continues his road to recovery from the Achilles injury that sidelined him last year, that wasn’t the only ache that plagued him a season ago. In February, Thomas had shoulder surgery to repair torn ligaments that had bothered him for several years.

Now he’s healthy and hoping to be ready for training camp in July.

“I can do some of the things I know I can do and will be doing soon. Right now it’s just about getting the strength back,” Thomas said. “I don’t know what percentage I’m at, but they keep giving me more to do and everyone seems happy where I’m at.”
