U.S. rower Henrik Rummel on Olympic excitement: ‘I swear it’s not erect!’

He swears, it's not erect. Do you believe him?

After photos and videos surfaced of U.S. rower Henrik Rummel’s nether regions in a bit of a compromising position at the Olympics, the bronze-medalist is firing back, asking fans to stop giving him such a hard time (Get it? Get it?).

While accepting a bronze medal with his team, Rummel appeared to get a bit overly excited about his victory. Unfortunately for him, those little rowing shorts are way too tight and revealing to hide something like … that.

Fans went nuts over the photos and the internet went ablaze with all kinds of below-the-belt comments about Rummel and little (or not so little) Rummel alike.

However, Rummel is taking a firm stance on the incident, posting today on internet forum reddit under the username Rummelator, “This is me and I swear it’s not erect! I don’t know why it ended up in that position but there you go.”

Under that username, Rummel has also commented on rowing tips, “Game of Thrones” and NBA games in the past.

Other reddit users were quick to respond offering their support for  Rummel and his questionable flaccidity.

“Dude when you win a medal in the goddamn olympics your penis can be however you want. You earned it,” one user said.

And then, as it so often happens on reddit, users decided to put together a little list of penile puns — the Olympic edition — for our enjoyment:

Winning Wood

Success Erection

Standing Tall

Triumph Chubby

Jubilation Popsicle

Celebration Inflation

Rower’s Rod

Victerection

Still, we don’t think any of these puns can compete with the sheer glory of the event that Rummel won bronze for: The coxless four.
