Top-10 Running Backs

On Sunday, we hit the top-10 quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers will come off the board in the first round and our No. 10 quarterback, Robert Griffin III, will be available in the 10th round or later.

Running backs, however, are a different animal. Because you can start three of them in most leagues and they score more than wideouts, RB is the most scarce position in fantasy. All of these guys will come off the board before Round 2 is over. I’d try to get one of them for sure.

1. Arian Foster, Texans — All-around dominant back with the best run-blocking line in the league. Make sure you handcuff Ben Tate.

2. LeSean McCoy, Eagles — Amazing raw talent that is also the goal-line back in an extremely potent offense. Andy Reid never takes him off the field.

3. Ray Rice, Ravens — The most durable of all the backs in the league. Keeps himself in amazing shape.

4. Darren McFadden, Raiders — He’s due for some good luck on the injury front. Another three-down plus goal-line back with special talent. Handcuff Mike Goodson.

5. Chris Johnson, Titans — Looked really good in the second preseason game. Should be helped by Jake Locker spreading out the field.

6. DeMarco Murray, Cowboys — Passes the eye test with ease. Having a huge camp while Felix Jones is faltering badly.

7. Matt Forte, Bears — He’ll lose carries to Michael Bush, but will still churn up tons of yardage — especially strong in PPR formats.

8. Ryan Mathews, Chargers — Targeting Week 3 for his return from a collarbone fracture. Once healthy, he’ll tilt fantasy matchups.

9. Steven Jackson, Rams — Quietly looking really strong in Jeff Fisher’s new run-heavy scheme.

10. Adrian Peterson, Vikings — All signs with the ACL are good so far. It’s a major gamble, but owners will be banking on a big second half.
