Timeshare for S-Jax

Steven Jackson is 29 and has a ton of tread on his tires. He’s not a
breakaway threat. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the
season. Easing him out of a workhorse role makes a ton of sense.

On
Sunday, Jackson played 35 snaps while seventh-round rookie Daryl
Richardson played 24. Over the last four games, S-Jax is averaging 16.0
touches compared to 10.2 for Richarson. Coach Jeff Fisher said that this
timeshare is here to stay. Expect a 65/35 split the rest of the way –
with S-Jax getting any goal-line work.

St. Louis isn’t the only timeshare worth discussing:

*
In Buffalo, there are two elite talents in one backfield. And since the
Bills excel in the screen game, there’s enough room for both Fred
Jackson and C.J. Spiller to be RB2s in fantasy. Both are just so
productive on a per-touch basis that they can do damage with 10-14
touches. And if one gets hurt, the other will be a top-5 option.

* Carolina is clearing house and the running back situation is at least partially to blame. Fired GM Marty Hurney gave $43 million to DeAngelo Williams and $37 million to Jonathan Stewart. Williams got two carries on Sunday and Stewart hasn’t topped 51 rushing yards in a game this season. Williams is actually playing behind Mike Tolbert right now.

* Add Rashad Jennings. Maurice Jones-Drew hurt his foot Sunday and was sporting a walking boot with crutches. More on this tomorrow.

* Trent Richardson (ribs) wasn’t at 100 percent yesterday, but he could have played. Still, coach Pat Shurmur said no, essentially benching his stud rookie for ineffectiveness. Richardson has to prove he can run with full confidence on those sore ribs.
