Playing the Field: Gronk goes to England

Gronk score. Gronk spike. Gronk humiliate America.

Hurricane Sandy got you down? Well, take a few moments to be distracted thanks to the sports world.

As usual on a Monday, it’s time for a little NFL Sunday wackiness. And no, I’m not solely talking about the league’s continued stupidity in taking games to England. (Although that is assuredly crazy.)

Speaking of London, however, everyone’s favorite meathead Rob Gronkowski and the Patriots took the trip yesterday to face the pitiful Rams. They destroyed the Rams, so who cares about the game itself. What was actually interesting were the dance moves (and I use that term lightly) of Gronk.

He busted out the palace guards dance on his first touchdown. Clever, but it definitely looked just like a poorly done robot.

He then busted out a completely crazy, gyrating “dance” after his second score. I was highly offended … by his pitiful dance skills.

And if the Gronk in London experience wasn’t complete on the field, he also gave us a treat off the field before Sunday’s game. He was implored by the crowd at a public event to “spike the mic” while doing an interview on stage. And don’t let it be said Gronk isn’t a man of the people. There goes that mic.

DeAngelo Hall acts like a fool

We might be able to make this a permanent section, but Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall took his stupid behavior to a new level yesterday against the Steelers.

After getting tangled up with receiver Emmanuel Sanders on a route, he flipped out on a referee who dared to question his behavior. He yelled at him, ripped off his helmet and kept going at him even after the ref walked away. He was ejected from the game. He’ll also probably will be fined and might even get suspended.

And yes, this is also a good time to bring up those hideous Steelers uniforms they were wearing yesterday. They’ve worn them before, but it still bears mentioning. Shudder.

By the way, from that same game, Robert Griffin was called for offensive pass interference. Seriously. Probably not the best idea to send your rookie franchise QB 30 yards downfield on a reverse, wide receiver pass. Steelers safety Ryan Clark greeted him with a shot to the head (which wasn’t called).
