Playing the Field: Michael Jordan is stuck in the ’90s and NBA refs love to dance

Are these the cargo pants in question?

As if we needed any further evidence that Michael Jordan was stuck in the ’90s, we have today’s news that he was banned from a swank Miami golf club because he wore cargo pants on the links.

From the NY Post:

Michael Jordan ruffled feathers at an exclusive Miami Beach country club when he wouldn’t play by their rules. Page Six has exclusively learned the NBA legend hit the links as a guest at swanky La Gorce Country Club — but his gear didn’t fit the club’s old-school rules. “Michael was wearing cargo pants on the course,” said a spy. Jordan’s multipocketed pants were apparently against the dress code that, sources say, dictates that members and guests must be attired in a collared shirt and Bermuda shorts. But when 6-foot, 6-inch Jordan was offered a chance to change outfits, he demurred. “He was given the chance to change but he didn’t want to,” a source said.

Jordan, arguably the coolest athlete of all-time, seems to be slipping a tad in his old age. We saw his bizarre Hall of Fame speech – in which he continued to poke fun at guys like John Starks (Mike, you won. Let it go.). We’ve seen him guide an NBA franchise through years and years of futility as owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, culminating with last year’s ‘worst season in NBA history.’ Now, we see him wearing the same style cargo pants you wore junior year of high school. Pockets galore!

There’s little doubt now that on a somewhat regular basis, Michael wears Jorts (Jean shorts) during private moments around the house, pops in Season 3 of “Friends” on his ‘brand new’ DVD player and calls it a night while sipping on a Zima.

Get it together Mike, we need you!

Dancing Joey

Do a little dance. Make a little love. Make a horrendous call. That seems to be NBA referee Joey Crawford’s edict of late.

Here is Joey making it all about him (as usual) Tuesday night during a crucial period in the Lakers-Pacers game:
