Playing the Field: Jim Harbaugh deserves Emmy, Ronda Rousey wants sex

Ronda Rousey is a lover and a fighter ... where do we sign up?

Drink liquor, not beer. That’s the new rallying cry in Minnesota as the upstart Vikings, at 6-6, play host to the Chicago Bears this weekend. It’s basically a make-or-break game considering the crowded house that has become the NFC North.

So before Vikings fans park those Norse helmets upon their domes — and graffiti themselves in purple paint — Chad Greenway had a very special public service announcement for them …

“We have to play accordingly and our fans have to show up accordingly, which we know they will,” Greenway told the Star Tribune. “Hopefully, they’re super- duper drunk. … So drink liquor, not beer.”

Yes, that’s very sound advice. And never mix the two. Never — or jump on a boat with Daunte Culpepper.

Saved by the Harbaugh

We all know Jim Harbaugh as the fiery handshake giver that coaches the San Francisco 49ers. Before that, he was a mediocre quarterback for the Bears and Colts. Turns out, during that time, Harbaugh also dabbled in acting, specifically a cameo on the cult classic, “Saved by the Bell: The New Class.”

Even though it’s a spin-off from the original show (sorry, Harbaugh and AC Slater don’t go mano-a-mano in a spirited arm-wrestling match), it’s still a must-watch.





In it, Harbaugh plays Screech’s cousin and gives advice to a Bayside football player who is disrespecting his teammates by celebrating touchdowns too early. Memorable Harbaugh line: “People think I’m a hero because I can throw a football, but you’re nothing without your teammates.”

Something tells us Coach Harbaugh said something along those same lines to Alex Smith recently, something like, “People think you’re a hero because you can throw a football, but you’re nothing without your teammates (or Colin Kaepernick).”


Girl fight, girl fight

We don’t usually watch many UFC fights, but we’re thinking about setting the DVR for this one. Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche will make history on Feb. 23 when they become the first women to match fists in the Octagon. They will be fighting for the first women’s UFC championship belt.

Rousey made headlines last summer — and again earlier this week — when she debunked the old Rocky myth that sex weakens the legs.





In an appearance on Jim Rome’s show, Rousey said, “For girls it raises your testosterone, so I try to have as much sex as possible before I fight actually. Not with like everybody, I don’t put out like a Craigslist ads or anything, but if I got a steady I’m going to be like, ‘Yo, fight time’s coming up.’”
