The Word: Big Boi drinks to the little things
We caught up with Big Boi, one half of the hip-hop duo Outkast, Wednesday night at Room Service night club in NYC. Boi (real name Antwan Andre Patton) was there to help launch a new campaign for Crown Royal called “The Crown Life.” Since the campaign’s spin is to “mark and celebrate life’s crowning moments,” we asked Boi what he considers a momentous occasion. And while he mentioned winning Album of the Year at the 2004 Grammy Awards for “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below,” the musician also wants to celebrate the little things. “My kid might come home and say, ‘I got an A- on the test.’ I’ll drink to that. But he won’t, you know — no underage drinking.”
Up next for the mogul: A new album featuring Janelle Monae called “Daddy Fat Saxxx: Soul Funk Crusader,” slated for release at the end of the year.
His iPod: A funk stew:
“I listen to everything. I’ve got maybe 10,000 songs on my iPod. I listen to everything from Mumford and Sons to Al Green; Bob Marley’s one of my favorites, Kate Bush, The Doors; I listen to all types of music. Anything might come on,” he says. “It might go from Johnny Cash straight into some Three 6 Mafia. That’s just how psyched up my iPod is. It’s always been a hodgepodge of everything, even with the whole Outkast sound. It’s like a funk stew if you want to call it that. If it’s jamming, it’s jamming.”

Jillian Michaels to adopt
“The Biggest Loser” trainer Jillian Michaels, 37, announced to People magazine she’s currently trying to adopt a baby from the Congo. “I’m in the midst of the adoption process at the moment,” Michaels, told the magazine at the American Society of Magazine Editors awards on Monday. “It is an incredibly long process.”
Good for Michaels — I just hope someone has tipped her off to the fact that babies are supposed to be chubby.
