The Word: Russell Brand and Zooey Deschanel? Say it ain’t so!

Zooey Deschanel

Say it ain’t so, Zooey Deschanel!

In the wake of his split from Katy Perry, Russell Brand has reportedly set his sights on “New Girl” star Deschanel — and has been sending her “fun, flirty texts,” according to Hollyscoop. Sources say that Brand “thinks she’s hysterically funny and cute, too. He loves her quirky sense of humor, and thinks they’d be great together both on- an off-screen.” Coincidentally (or not!), Deschanel filed for divorce from husband Ben Gibbard just days before Brand filed for divorce from Perry.

This is weird, because the fact the two women look alike is well documented. In 2009, Deschanel actually complained to MTV News about constantly being confused with Perry. “It’s a little bit annoying, to be totally blunt. The only similarity that we have is that we look a little bit alike,” she told the site. “I have met her before. She seems like a nice person. I’m happy that she’s famous enough now that she’s not going out and being mistaken for me.”
