4 mobile apps that will simplify your online job search

With the right apps, you can job-hunt on the go.

The thousands of job listings on the Web can make looking for a new gig even more stressful.  These apps make the hunt a little easier.

Job Compass
Are you hoping to cut down your morning commute with a closer office? The iPhone app Job Compass searches for open positions near your home, within a five-mile radius. Or if you’re willing to travel or maybe even relocate, you can search up to 100 miles away. The app searches more than
2 million listings to help find the job you’re looking for.

Job Search by Indeed.com

If you’ve performed an online job search in the past couple years, it’s likely that Indeed.com sourced some of those listings. The website is comprehensive, with thousands of listings from company websites and job boards. Indeed’s app is just as useful if you’re on the go. You can save and/or e-mail your favorite job postings, and the app saves recent searches for your next visit.

Gigwalk
Employers are still slow to take on new staff in this economy, but the contract work sector has seen a boost in activity over the past few years. What better way to get your foot in a company’s door than to prove your qualifications?

The Gigwalk app is available on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. You can find temporary gigs ranging in pay from $6 to several hundred. When you do well, businesses with profiles on Gigwalk can invite you to private groups, thus broadcasting your name to others in the company. If you’re hired for a Gigwalk project, employers can write reviews of your work that will live on the app, potentially enhancing your appeal to other employers.

JobMo
JobMo is a free app on iTunes and Google Play. Users search among millions of job listings from around the globe. Use Google Maps to find local jobs and compare salaries for your desired jobs. Find interview tips and connect with other job seekers to share job-hunting techniques. If you’re using an Android tablet or iPad, you can apply to jobs directly from the app.
