The Word: Amanda Bynes takes to the rumors

It seems like just yesterday that Bynes was starring with a bizarro John
Leguizamo, center, on “All That” and not being ruined by the Hollywood machine.

Amanda Bynes may be making headlines regularly for her troubles behind the wheel and her increasingly erratic behavior, but the actress herself is “doing amazing,” she tells People magazine during a phone call this week. “I am retired as an actor. I am moving to New York to launch my career. I am going to do a fashion line,” she says. “I am not talking about being arrested for a DUI because I don’t drink, and I don’t drink and drive. It is all false.” But while the former Nickelodeon star herself may think everything’s fine, her nearest and dearest aren’t so confident. “People around Amanda are really concerned about her,” a source tells the magazine. “She tells people she doesn’t party or drink. She doesn’t realize she has a problem.”

And her behavior is getting even weirder, per TMZ: On Tuesday night, she was kicked out of a spin class at her L.A. gym. Apparently, after the class started, Bynes stopped cycling and started wandering around. Once she found another bike, she hopped aboard, but then took off her shirt, revealing a “tiny black strapless push-up bra … not a sports bra.” She cycled a bit more and then stopped to apply makeup for a “full 10 minutes” before the instructor threw her out.

This is sad. All of these stories about Bynes’ increasingly weird behavior reminds me of Brittany Murphy — and we all know how that turned out.

There’s an app for that

Does the sight of Chris Brown fill you with seething rage? Then a recently released app called Brownout, which removes all mentions of Chris Brown from the Internet, is for you. The app was created by the cheeky Canadian company that was responsible for  last year’s plugin Nickelblock, which eliminated all mentions of Nickelback from Web browsers.

Question: If there were also apps called Kardashi-None, Britney (Disa)Spears, or Lindsay Loh-No, would the Internet cease to exist?
