Britney Spears: The blond Jane Austen

“It’s Britney Austen, b-tch.”

There’s a trend in book publishing where a superstar gets paid buckets and buckets of cash to “write” a book and people actually read it thinking it’s the fruit of their favorite celebrity’s labor (see: Snooki, Lauren Conrad, Bethenny Frankel and the Kardashian sisters). The latest to join their ranks? Britney Spears, who is reportedly in talks with It Books. That’s according to The Hollywood Reporter, which writes, “Britney Spears is close to signing a book deal … with plans to write a novel…. The story would incorporate fictionalized versions of her own experiences.”

Her own experiences and not, say, a supernatural teen romance? Actually, Spears’ life — spawning with a back-up dancer from Fresno, Sam Lufti, shaving her head, being under the  conservatorship of her father — is on the level of Shakespeare (you know Lady MacBeth would be a former Mouseketeer if “Macbeth” were written nowadays).

Write from the heart, Britney! Don’t let your underpaid ghostwriter tell you what’s what! But in all honesty, you know if Spears wrote from the heart, the whole book would typed in Wing Dings.

Sam Worthington arrested in Atlanta

“Avatar” star Sam Worthington had a bad Saturday night. He not only was arrested but he was hit with pepper spray by a doorman to top it all off.

TMZ reports that Worthington, who is in Atlanta filming “Ten” which co-stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, became unruly when he was denied entrance to a restaurant. According to the police report, a witness told cops Worthington became disorderly, pushing a doorman who responded by pepper spraying the star and handcuffing him until the cops came.

MTV plans Sandy ‘Shore’ benefit

The cast of “The Jersey Shore” is hosting a one-hour fundraising special to help the New Jersey Shore on Nov. 15 at 11 p.m. from MTV’s Times Square studio. The network says money raised will go toward rebuilding Seaside Heights, N.J., where the realty TV show was filmed. Cast members will appear in the special as well as other yet-to-be announced guest stars.
