The world is your oyster. However, you’ll really want to find the best bite of that oyster right after graduating from college. and have teamed up to provide a list of the country’s 10 best cities for recent college graduates. Using recent data about job availability and the cost of living, the list identifies the places in the U.S. that might offer you the hottest prospects and the best quality of life– that is, if you’re not planning on moving back in with mom and dad.

There are a few surprises on this list. First, some major cities like Washington, D.C., Boston and Philadelphia made the cut– but not NYC. What gives? Speaking as a twentysomething New Yorker, since when is paying $1,300 a month for a shoebox a bad idea straight out of college? Second, Cleveland — really??
