“Toy Stories” shows kids from around the world with their most prized possessions.

What does a little girl in Malawi love more than anything? What toy brings a huge smile to a boy’s face in Fiji? Do kids in Morocco love Hot Wheels as much as kids in the United States? Photographer Gabriele Galimberti and journalist Ben Machell set out on a mission to answer these questions and more, documenting children all over the world with their favorite things. The beautiful result is “Toy Stories,” out now.

The book’s 54 photos shows what childhood means, near and far. It took three years for Galimberti and Machell to capture these moments. Here, they share three:
