Ke$ha talks her beauty routine

MOD_W17_Kesha

You’re about to go on tour with Pitbull. How do you keep on top of your beauty regimen on the road?
I could go for two days without a shower, but I always take care of my skin and my face. The rest of my life is chaos, but I’m pretty religious about that. I cleanse and moisturize all the time because I’m prone to having dry skin. I’ve also started putting a tiny, pea size amount of retinol in my night cream. It supposedly helps your skin exfoliate constantly.

In your song ‘TiK ToK’, you sing about brushing your teeth with a bottle of Jack. Are you the type to fall asleep with your makeup on?
Whisky isn’t necessarily my first choice when it comes to dental hygiene. I always wash my face.  Sometimes I just leave the eyes because I like my makeup better the next morning, it looks naturally wild. It creates this sexy, smoky eye that I don’t know how to create myself.  It looks great.

Speaking of eyes, you seem to have a thing for glitter.
I cover myself in glitter! I pour it on the ground, lay in it and roll around. Then my glitter roadie sprinkles it all over me. His job is to make sure every inch of my body is covered.

Is he a make-up artist?
No, he just has a beard.

Your hair. The waves, the cornrows, it must be high maintenance.
My hair is a constant battle. It’s like the fifth member of my band. I have to keep it healthy. But it’s a struggle when I’m bleaching and styling it constantly. So I sleep in Kérastase Deep Conditioner, Bumble and Bumble Mending Conditioner or Moroccan Oil.When I don’t have someone prodding my head, I tie it up in a messy bun.

You recently wrapped filming your MTV documentary, “Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life.” Did you keep on a full face of makeup throughout?
It’s ridiculous…you’ll see me with no makeup, no hair, no nothing. I’m running around without a bra on, looking so disheveled.

A lot of tabloids have made a big deal about your recent weight loss. Has fame changed you, physically?
Of course. I have to be stricter than I ever was before. When I train for my tour, it’s like I’m training for an athletic event. Every morning when I wake up, I try to meditate and get in the right mental headspace in order to kick ass. With my first record, I didn’t realize how many eyes would be on me. This time around I’m prepared
