Get ready for Jason Wu’s Hugo Boss womenswear collection

Jason Wu isn’t content to keep his designer talents to his own label.

You’d think he’s busy enough designing his eponymous label and his diffusion line, Miss Wu, but designer Jason Wu is hard at work on the new Hugo Boss collection.

Last June, the German brand named Wu its new artistic director of women’s design. According to Women’s Wear Daily, he’s in charge of “revamping the clothes, the shoes, the bags, the hardware and the label, which will be white on white.”

And, like all giant corporations, there are brand extensions like fragrance and eyewear to oversee as well.

“The first order of business was to really dig into the DNA of the company,” said Wu in the story. “To go visit, to learn about the history of the company, to know where it came from, where it was yesterday, what it is today and what it can be tomorrow.”

We’ll find out what it can be when the curtains close on the first ever Hugo Boss women’s fashion show, scheduled for Feb. 12 during New York Fashion Week.

Any why exactly did the designer take on the extra stress? After all, the Hugo Boss fashion show is just five days after his own runway outing.

“It’s challenging to have two jobs — a 24-hour day job and night job,” said Wu. “It felt like it was the right time to take that next step and do something really different from my brand. It has a different look and shows my range as a designer.”
