Creatures of the Wind’s diverse model lineup at NYFW and other things we loved

Creatures Of Comfort - Runway - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2014

Three things we loved from the first day of New York Fashion Week.

Creatures of Comfort
Creatures of Comfort send out relaxed ladylike looks perfect for the confident, offbeat woman, which makes sense considering designer Jade Lai cited the board game Clue as an inspiration.

The poppy color choices — a coral turtleneck worn under a flowing navy sweatshirt with turmeric pencil skirt or cobalt plaid suit — only added to the appeal.

Richard Chai Love - Runway RTW - Fall 2014 - New York Fashion Week

Richard Chai Love
In the market for a new coat next winter? Richard Chai showed a variety of lust-worthy outerwear, from his shrunken leather motos to sleek shearling. But it was the oversized robe-like plaid coat and mannish camel full-length that stole our heart.

Creatures of the Wind - Runway RTW - Fall 2014 - New York Fashion Week

Creatures of the Wind
Whether or not you loved Shane Gabier and Christopher Peter’s Eastern-inspired collection, you have to admire the designer’s diverse lineup of models. African American, Latina and Asian women — even Lakshmi Menon, a model from India, walked the show.
