Samsung Galaxy unveiled the anticipated Galaxy S5 at the Mobile World Congress. Rather than adding crazy new changes to make the phone stand out, Samsung wanted to improve the S5 by making it more indispensible to daily life.

5. The Galaxy S5 is your new workout buddy

Samsung’s newest fitness-related software, S Health 3.0, provides a comprehensive personal fitness tracker to help you monitor and manage your health. The S Health includes a pedometer, diet and exercise records, and a new built-in heart monitor.

4. Your privacy is protected by your fingerprint

The new smartphone now has a fingerprint scanner, allowing users to unlock their phone or gain access to personal files literally by the touch of a finger. You can setup the fingerprint scanner to secure any information that may be accessible on your mobile device.

3. A new and improved camera offers sharper photos

Many Samsung fans were thrilled about the phone’s 16-megapixel sensor, giving your mobile photos a clearer shot. The device also has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

2. The Galaxy S5 is water-resistant

You may not be able to go swimming with your phone on hand but if you’re caught in a rainstorm without an umbrella, you can rest assured that your phone will be fine.

1. The most practical improvement is the phone’s battery life

The company boosted the S5 by giving it a 2,800-mAh battery. The battery is made to last another 24 hours on standby mode so you have more than enough time to find an outlet, and just enough time to get in those last-second calls and text messages.

New look

As far as the design of the phone, the only change is the back of the device, which has an adhesive bandage look. Although the device is still plastic, the phone has a smoother feel and easier grip. However, Samsung fans were not impressed with the size of the device. The 5.1-inch display makes it almost similar to the Note 3.

Samsung has confirmed that the S5 will come in four different colors: charcoal black, shimmery white, electric blue and copper gold. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is reported to release on April 11. Pricing has not yet been announced.
