Google Glass is already sold out after a one-day sale to the general public. But how much do we really know about tech’s hot new item?

Glass is an eyeglass frame that syncs with your smartphone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to allow you to take phone calls, send text messages and shoot photos and video. If you’re trying to get somewhere, you can also see maps in Glass. It is iPhone-compatible, but all of the features will work on Android devices.

At 1.28 ounces, the device weighs less than a pair of sunglasses and is made from bendable titanium. Currently the device comes with a 5-megapixel camera, but we anticipate that will get better as the technology develops.

Be ready to shell out a pretty penny: Google Glass will set you back about $1,500.

Aside from all the technical information about Google’s wearable technology, here are some things you may not have known about Google Glass.

1. Not really eyeglasses

Many people refer to the device as “Google Glasses,” but the design is a lensless eyeglass frame with a tiny computer mounted on the right arm of the frame. The computer has a small transparent display that sits just above your right eye.

2. You will never get lost again

With full integration of Google Maps, you can receive directions to locations and be able to view an overlay of a map right in front of you.

3. Stylish looks are on the way

Right now, Google Glass will make you look like a character from “Star Trek.” There are rumors that Warby Parker will team up with Google to create hip frames that support Google’s technology.

4. Someone was arrested for wearing Google Glass

In January a man was wearing Google Glass while he was watching a movie with his wife at a local theater. According to the Gadgeteer – a website dedicated to tech-junkies – the movie theater called the FBI and he was escorted out of the movie theater for questioning. As it turned out, he was not recording anything and the only items on the device were family photos.

5. Your sex life could become more interesting

You might be able to see yourself having sex. If you and your partner are both wearing Google Glass, think about all the things you could do (record) while you’re spending some quality time with your mate.
