DermoScreen: This new iPhone app can tell if you have skin cancer
They say there is an app for everything. This is mostly true, if your definition of “everything” includes matching same-colored candies or interacting with your many social networks. However, a professor at the University of Houston just invented something that takes that concept quite literally. This invention? DermoScreen, an iOS app that can tell if you have skin cancer. You read that right. You just outfit your phone with the Dermoscope attachment, snap a picture of the offending mole and within seconds you’ll know if you are long for this Earth. It is said to have an 85 percent accuracy rate, which is in line with modern biopsies.
Of course, because this is the world, there’s a catch. That Dermoscope attachment? It’ll cost you a whopping 500 bucks. Oh well. There’s always bugging everyone you know to look at your skin and pass judgement.
