VIDEO: iPhone 6′s sapphire crystal display is almost unbreakable
Apple fanboys and fangirls will go gaga for the new iPhone 6 sapphire crystal display. Tech blogger Marques Brownlee, also know as MKBHD, unveiled the upcoming model’s alleged 4.7 in. sapphire crystal display, straight from the factory, he claims.
What are the benefits of a sapphire crystal display? Apple’s iPhone 5S used a Gorilla Glass display, which Brownlee says is inferior to that of the newest model.
Brownlee shows off the new display and says that it’s “paper thin” and “perfectly see through” – that much is clear to the viewer as he runs the slab over his rug and demonstrates its clarity as he points it toward his wall.
Brownlee points out that currently, sapphire crystal is used for iPhones’ camera lenses and home buttons because of its clarity – super clear material is necessary for the home button because of the iPhone 5S’s fingerprint reader.
Brownlee also demonstrated the sapphire crystal’s durability – he bends it in front of the camera to show off its flexibility and then uses keys to scratch the display and the point of a knife to stab at the display. Nothing leaves a mark.
Maybe this means iPhone users can finally say goodbye to cracked displays and embarrassing spiderwebs on their devices.
