Brooklyn woman shot dead by brother

A woman shot dead in her basement this morning was attempting to evict her brother, police report.

According to a law enforcement source, the 63-year-old woman was attempting with her 37-year-old daughter to evict her older brother from the basement at 359 East 25th Street in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn this morning at 9:52 a.m., when her brother shot her in the chest.

She was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital at 11 a.m. The daughter was at the hospital in stable condition. A bullet grazed her head.

The 70-year-old shooter and his firearm are in police custody, but charges are still pending.

The identities of the mother and daughter will be released after family has been properly notified.
