Make Music New York has teamed up with a Brooklyn composer to bring music to the streets outside the New York Stock Exchange.

On June 21, iPhone users who have downloaded the GROUP application will convene at the corner of Broad and Wall Streets for their first recital, of which Metro is a sponsor.

At precisely 12:45 p.m. the iPhones will emit a dense drone, growing louder and more complicated over the course of ten minutes, culminating at 12:55 p.m. with a chorus of 216 unique notes.

“When we think about technology, we think about how isolating it is,” said composer Aaron Siegel, 34, the visionary of the event. “But for GROUP, you need the people around you to complete the symphony.”

Siegel said he specifically chose Wall Street. “It’s not thought of as an art-making place,” he said.
