Attention car owners: parking in Boston will resume again starting tonight.

As of 6 p.m. the city’s snow emergency and parking ban will be lifted. Residents who were forced to move their cars into reduced-rate lots and garages should move them by 8 p.m. to take advantage of the special rates.

Mayor Thomas Menino also announced today that Boston Public Schools would be open tomorrow. Schools were closed Friday, Monday and today because of difficulty crews have had clearing about two feet of snow from sidewalks and intersections.

Car owners should continue to expect delays as public works crews continue their effort to remove snow from the city’s roadways. That effort will continue today and throughout tonight, Menino said.

“Our snow removal teams did great work throughout the night last night,” Menino said in a statement. “Our crews will be out there all day and again tonight as we continue to widen roads, make our schools safe for students, and respond to residents’ concerns about residential areas.”

Just last night, crews removed 1,350 truck loads of snow from city roadways and moved it to snow farms in various parts of the city.
