Askia Sabur: Man beaten by police in viral video found not guilty
Askia Sabur has been found not guilty of assault, disarming an officer and resisting arrest. The West Philadelphia man, now 31, was in 2010 brutally beaten by police in a struggle that was caught on camera and quickly went viral.
Sabur was jailed for more than two years awaiting trial for allegations that he bit one of the officers and attempted to grab his gun. A jury on Tuesday returned the not guilty verdict after only an hour of deliberation.
Sabur has reportedly already filed a civil suit against the city.
