Medford residents, watchdog group suing over Green Line extension

Two Medford residents, along with the town’s Green Line Advisory Group, are suing MassDOT and the Federal Transit Administration over the Green Line extension, according to a report by the Medford Transcript.

The$1.33 billion project will extend rail service from Cambridge through College Avenue in Medford, but according to Medford residents Bill Wood, Carolyn Rosen and the advisory group, the extension would allegedly violate the National Environment Policy Act of 1969.

According to the report, Wood said the group does not oppose the Green Line, but that they’ve “asked the state for full disclosure and transparency. This area [of Medford] is not a blighted neighborhood that needs to be changed like they say. The people who live there should have representation.”

  1. Although the tiny group suing the state has an official-sounding name, in fact GLAM (Green Line Advisory group for Medford) has no connection with either the City of Medford or the Green Line extension project.

  2. This complaint was filed by the two individuals named in the article and a citizens organization. The city of Medford (not a town) does not have a Green Line advisory group, nor is the city a party to this complaint.
