Boston’s Greenway will soon start a $1.5 million transformation into what its conservancy describes as a “robust” and “beautifully landscaped” park, complete with a new merry-go-round and comfortable furnishings.

Today The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy announced a $1.5 million closing gift from The Tiffany & Co. Foundation, which will pay for the New Greenway Carousel Park.

According to the conservancy, “Located in the center of the 1.5-mile long Greenway, The Tiffany & Co. Foundation Grove at Carousel Park is destined to be a major attraction for locals and visitors.”

The project will include permanent new carousel, a signature grove of trees, robust garden perimeter, and comfortable park
furnishings.

Construction is set to start next week, and wrap up in September.

“The Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway is a focal point for the City of Boston. This picturesque piece of land is a ribbon of lush gardens that provides beauty and enjoyment for everyone who lives and visits this city. The Tiffany & Co. Foundation Grove at Carousel Park will be a wonderful destination for everyone to enjoy,” Georgia Murray, Board Chair at the Greenway Conservancy, said in a statement. “The Greenway Conservancy is deeply grateful for this incredibly generous grant from The Tiffany & Co. Foundation. This one-of-a-kind carousel is a community amenity that will delight children of all ages,” added Jodi A. Wolin, the Greenway Conservancy’s Director of Development.
