Cops search for elderly jewelry thief
Cops are looking for an elderly thief who they said robbed a jewelry store.
The NYPD said today that they are hoping for help in solving the December 2011 crime.
Around 11:20 on Dec. 15, 2011, cops said, a man walked into a jewelry store on 47th Street and asked to see heavy gold chains.
The saleswoman allowed him to look at the chains, but when she looked away, he put the jewelry in his pants and left the store, cops said.
The suspect is described as male, white and about 60 to 70 years old, with salt-and-pepper hair and a dark overcoat.
