SEPTA and United Transit Systems officials on Wednesday will celebrate the completion of the 120th and final Silverliner V train car built in a $274 million deal between the entities.

A ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Hyundai Rotem’s South Philadelphia facility.

All 120 Silverliner V trains ordered by SEPTA were built in Philadelphia, with many parts purchased from Pennsylvania suppliers, according to SEPTA.

“In addition to creating 250 jobs at the South Philadelphia Hyundai-Rotem facility, the contract to purchase the cars from UTS has also resulted in hundreds of other jobs and millions of dollars invested in communities throughout the region,” SEPTA said in a statement announcing the ceremony.

United Transit Systems is a consortium of Hyundai Rotem and Sojitz Corp.

SEPTA Chairman Pasquale T. Deon Sr. and general manager Joseph Casey, Hyundai Rotem Vice Chairman and CEO Kyu Hwan Han, and Sojitz Senior Vice President Masayoshi Fujimoto are expected to lead the ceremony.
