Buckle up: Zip-line course proposed for Roxborough park
The city’s recreation department is proposing to build an outdoor adventure course, which includes a zip line, on five acres in Wissahickon Valley Park.
The “treetop adventure course” would feature wooden platforms constructed between trees connecting the zip lines.
Neighbors voiced concerns at a public meeting Wednesday, pointing to environmental, traffic, and vandalism concerns.
City Councilman Curtis Jones Jr., whose district includes the five-acre parcel, said he heard mostly opposition to the project on Wednesday. He said it was about two to one.
“We will definitely be continuing these conversations with the developer and with Wissahickon residents,” Jones said in an email. “I’ve been hearing concerns from my constituents. If we can work it out with the developers so that those concerns are addressed, great. If not, we will have to pass.”
