SEPTA, library officials unveil e-reading program
Officials from SEPTA and the Free Library of Philadelphia will introduce an e-reading promotion at Suburban Station at 11 a.m. this morning.
Seventy-six brightly colored virtual library boards will be unveiled during a ceremony to kick off the ”Enrich Your Ride with Reading” program .
The boards will highlight titles available through the Free Library’s free digital collection, which includes more than 80,000 e-books, 8,000 audio books and 1,000 podcasts available for member download.
Also, Free Library of Philadelphia digital resource specialists will be on hand for today’s event to explain to SEPTA customers how to use the virtual library’s QR codes to access the library’s digital collection.
SEPTA officials believe with Tuesday’s ceremony Suburban Station will become the nation’s first train station with a virtual library.
The e-reading promotion, which is being held conjunction with upcoming National Library Week, is sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts.
SEPTA and its partners will recognize National Library Week and sponsor the “What are you reading?” contest. Through April 16, the public can submit titles of the books they are currently enjoying to SEPTA’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/septaphilly) and the @SEPTA_Social Twitter feed using #enrichyourride to win prizes.
