Police are searching for a man who was caught on surveillance video robbing a Bronx grocery store at gunpoint while wearing what appears to be a police shield around his neck.

The suspect entered the store at 182 E. 166th St. about 10:25 p.m. on March 21 wearing a shield around his neck, police said. The man is seen on the video holding a firearm and ordering customers to the back of the store. He then points the gun at a worker and orders him to remove money from the register. He fled with an unknown amount of cash, police said.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male in his late 30s, approximately 5-foot-7 and 160 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black hat and a green sweater.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crimestoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
