Authorities in Bucks County have charged three men with holding several adults and children hostage in Bristol Township from Sunday night into Monday morning in an apparent case of extortion.

The crime began unraveling for the three alleged perpetrators when the targeted victim told a bank teller that family members and friends were being held hostage and would be harmed if he did not give the kidnappers $80,000, the Bucks County Courier Times reports.

No one was hurt in the Bristol kidnapping plot, which included three victims under the age of 5.

Police initially took into custody two Philadelphia men — Daesean Smith, 21, and Dennis Redding, 18 — who carried out the hostage situation. They are accused of storming the victim’s Bristol Township apartment at gunpoint Sunday night.

The crime’s alleged mastermind — Orlando McNeil, 38, of Bristol Township — was taken into custody a short time later after police spotted him sitting in an SUV at the apartment complex, the paper reports.

The three men are charged with seven counts each of kidnapping, robbery and related charges.
