Poll: 3 Democrats would defeat Corbett

Gov. Tom Corbett
Gov. Tom Corbett would lose to three Democrats by sound margins, according to a Quinnipiac poll released Monday morning.

Gov. Tom Corbett would be soundly defeated by any of three Democrats he may face in the 2014 gubernatorial race, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released this morning.

The poll has former U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak defeating the incumbent Corbett by a margin of 48 percent to 34 percent, U.S Rep. Allyson Schwartz winning by 47-34 and Pennsylvania Treasurer Rob McCord taking the election by 44-35.

Still, those Democrats polled by Quinnipiac seem unsure about which gubernatorial hopeful they want to see challenge Corbett next year. Both Sestak and Schwartz were supported by 15 percent of Democrats in the hypothetical primary, while 59 percent remain undecided.

“Pennsylvania voters, even Democrats, don’t know much about the challengers in the 2014 governor’s race,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac Polling Institute. “Right now, voters are doing their ABCs–Anyone But Corbett.”

The poll found 47 percent of Pennsylvanians disapprove of the job Corbett has done as governor, with just 37 percent approving.

The poll was conducted April 19-24. It surveyed 1,235 registered Pennsylvania voters, including 547 Democrats.
