VIDEO: Amanda Bynes PSA pleads with people to ‘Stop Caring’

The recent attention that’s been lavished on retired actress-turned-Twitter superstar Amanda Bynes has inspired a satirical public service announcement that pleads with the public to stop caring about her apparent public meltdown.

The two-minute video, entitled “Amanda Bynes PSA: Stop Caring,” debuted on YouTube Thursday, and has since racked up over 45,000 views. Official Comedy created the melodramatic black and white video.

“Just think, somewhere, right now, at this very moment, scientists are working to cure cancer… And you just retweeted, ‘I want @drake to murder my vagina.’ Where did you go so wrong?,’” says a narrator, referring to a blunt tweet the former child star sent in March.

Another says, “My friend told me she wore a crazy wig to her arraignment, what am I supposed to do with that?”

The PSA suggests that instead of talking about Bynes, you should pay attention to the ongoing, violent situation in Syria, perhaps get a dog, or catch up on “Breaking Bad” episodes, or even call back your parents, because “it’s been about a week.”

One of the narrators, New York City comedian Evan Kaufman, said the PSA is meant to be more than a joke.

“I think the feeling is that it’s got to stop,” said Kaufman, who performed at Boston’s Improv Asylum for three years. “Amanda isn’t going to get any better from us just bottlenecking. She needs real help any maybe we can help her by ignoring her. This is our way of reaching out.”

Official Comedy ends their plea by hammering this message into viewers: “Stop caring. Stop it, stop it right now!”
