After making its way through more than 1,000 events at 261 venues around the region over the past 10 days, Philly Beer Week’s official mascot, the Hammer of Glory, was stolen Saturday.

The ceremonial oversized keg hammer with the Philly Beer Week logo emblazoned on its head was last seen around 4:30 p.m. at the FestivALE event in Fishtown.

“The event was highly attended, someone took it for a photo op and it disappeared into the crowds,” a Beer Week spokeswoman wrote in an email.

“We are trying to get it back.”

Beer Week officials filed a police report Saturday.

“The Hammer is the symbol of PBW,” a spokeswoman wrote.

“Mayor Nutter uses it every year to smash open the first keg of PBW. It’s like the Olympic torch and makes its way from venue to venue throughout the week so people can get their picture taken with it.”

Philly Beer Week’s homepage now includes a call for help in finding the Hammer of Glory, depicting the missing mascot on the back of a milk carton.

Philly Beer Week officials are also asking beer lovers to spread the word about the Hammer of Glory’s disappearance by retweeting and reposting Beer Week’s social media call for its safe return by using the hashtag #PBW2013 on Twitter and looking up PhillyBeerWeek on Facebook.

The Hammer can be returned to any participating Philly Beer Week venue.

Philly Beer Week wraps up today.
