Eagles announce $125m renovation of Lincoln Financial Field
The Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday announced a planned two-year, $125 million renovation of Lincoln Financial Field, the team’s home since 2003.
“We have had discussions with season ticket holders over the past couple of seasons to find out what was important to them,” Philadelphia Eagles President Don Smolenski said in a statement.
“We listened and developed a plan of action. The revitalization of Lincoln Financial Field that will take place over the next two years is a direct result of those conversations.”
By the 2013 regular season, fans can expect an integrated wireless network servicing the seating bowl that will allow for up to 45,000 simultaneous Wi-Fi connections, expansions to the three man entrance gates with clearer signage, larger cooking capabilities at stadium concession stands and displays on all levels featuring images of the franchise’s greatest players and most memorable moments.
A total 354 installations are planned – 34 murals along the upper and main concourses, 310 large images in the suite and club levels and 10 large murals in the club levels.
“Our main goal when we began this project was to dramatically enhance the gameday experience for our fans,” Smolenski said.
“They deserve an exciting and fun experience when they visit Lincoln Financial Field and we are committed to that.”
Also in 2013, The Touchdown Club will be completely revamped, moving from the HeadHouse Plaza to inside the stadium, where it will feature over 5,000 square feet of dining space and a 500 square-foot bar to showcase visiting celebrity chefs.
The Pro Shop inside the HeadHouse Plaza will be expanded by 2,500 feet with additional checkout points to more quickly service fans.
The Eagles have teamed up with Gensler Architecture and Turner Construction for the revitalization, whose second phase is slated for completion by the opening of the 2014 regular season.
By 2014, two new high-definition video boards totaling over 9,500 square feet will be installed in both end zones, along with upgraded sound systems and extended LED ribbon-board displays to provide 360 degree viewing.
Also set for a 2014 debut are an additional 1,600 stadium seats with two new connecting bridges in the southwest corner to allow upper level fans to more easily walk from the stadium’s home side to its visitor side and a new escalator on Lincoln Financial Field’s west side, allowing one of the existing elevators to focus solely on transporting fans to the upper concourse.
The SCA and West Club levels will also be overhauled, with upgraded furniture and audio-visual capabilities and a food market installed in each club lounge.
“This is an exciting and new era for the Philadelphia Eagles,” Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement.
“Just watching the new HD boards will be fun as the game will be captured in a powerful way for fans. And celebrating players and pivotal moments in games is a wonderful way to showcase the Eagles proud history as a team. Fans will see these all around the stadium.”
