Powerball jackpot rises to $127 million
The Powerball lottery jackpot has heated up to a $127 million annuity or $77.3 million cash prize for the first weekend drawing of the summer, set for this Saturday.
“During June, Powerball has been growing faster than the front lawn,” Lottery Executive Director Todd Rucci said in a statement.
“The current jackpot run began at $40 million just a few weeks ago and has added $87 million in the span of only six drawings.”
One Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball ticket matched 4 of 5 numbers drawn Wednesday, as well as the Power Ball and purchased Power Play, netting the customer a $40,000 prize.
More than 36,200 other players around the country won smaller amounts.
Tickets for the next Powerball drawing will be available until 9:59 p.m. Saturday night.
The Pennsylvania Lottery is advising players to purchase their Powerball tickets early to avoid any last-minute rush.
