Waltham police chief Thomas LaCroix was found guilty of assaulting his wife twice in their Maynard home last year.

Appearing in Concord District Court, LaCroix was convicted on two assault and battery counts, one in which he picked up his wife and threw her in the couple’s garage and another that left her with a bloody, swollen lip, the Boston Globe reports.

He was acquitted on charges of slamming his wife’s head on a kitchen countertop, attacking her friend Shannon Policano, and threatening to kill both if they went to police, the Globe continued.

Despite the conviction, Andrea LaCroix testified that her husband had never assaulted her. She said she injured herself when she fell while attacking her husband during an argument.

“My husband has never laid a hand on me, ever,’’ Andrea told the court.

However, her friend Policano as well as several coworkers testified that Andrea admitted to them that she was beaten by her husband.

Thomas LaCroix will be sentenced on July 10, and faces up to 2½ years in jail for each assault and battery count.  Until then, LaCroix must check in with the Probation Department on a daily basis and stay away from alcohol entirely, according to the Waltham Patch.
