Two arrested in the Bronx for trying to sell illegal fireworks online
Two individuals were arrested in the Bronx on Wednesday for trying to sell $1,600 worth of illegal fireworks online, police said, resulting in a total of 65 arrests for illegal fireworks ahead of this July 4th weekend.
The two accused were busted at 760 Tinton Ave. Police released a photo of the fireworks stash that was seized at the scene.
It was the 46th seizure by the Police Department ahead of this year’s July 4th holiday, resulting in a total of 65 arrests and the seizure of five vehicles used to transport illegal fireworks into the city from out of state.
Thirteen of the seizures were made at vehicle checkpoints while others were the results of buy operations and the use of search warrants, said NYPD spokesman Paul Browne.
The NYPD has assigned teams of officers to respond to reports of illegal fireworks over the course of the weekend, Browne added.
