Did a Chinese couple fall to their deaths from an 18th floor apartment after a windowpane gave way during sex two weeks ago — or is there something sinister afoot?

According to different reports, culled from various Chinese online forums and Weibo, the Chinese version of Twitter, the couple died either of two ways: they fell after having sex against a window that shattered or it could have been a murder or suicide.

Most Chinese media sites are reporting the two fell to their deaths while holding onto one another, first striking a street lamp and then a bicycle, which was crushed by their bodies.

“With the two of them holding each other tight, they fell out of the building,” an eyewitness said.

However, former neighbors of the couple claimed to have heard them arguing on the day of the accident.  The female victim was believed to be the man’s former girlfriend. According to staff from the property management company in charge of their building, the couple’s room was locked.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, according to reports.
