State Police: 11 killed, 241 injured in crashes over July 4 holiday
Eleven people were killed and 241 people injured in car crashes over the July 4 holiday, the Pennsylvania State Police reported.
State troopers investigated a total of 811 crashes between July 3 and 7, according to a news release.
The numbers increased from last year’s five-year holiday, in which nine people were killed and 312 injured in 845 crashes.
State police said 67 were alcohol-related, including four deaths. Troopers also arrested 411 people for driving under the influence.
Eight of the 11 killed were not wearing seat belts, state police said.
