Activists want ‘proper burial’ for fetuses aborted by Kermit Gosnell

Anti-abortion activists are staging a rally Friday outside the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office calling for the “proper burial” of 45 fetuses aborted by Dr. Kermit Gosnell.

Investigators discovered the 45 fetuses in jars, juice containers and freezer bags inside Gosnell’s now-shuttered Women’s Medical Society in West Philadelphia.

“These babies are still being kept by the Medical Examiner’s Office in Philadelphia, where they are being held indefinitely, despite the outcries for their release for proper burial,” Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, said in a statement.

“The chief medical examiner has yet to say what will be done with these babies, nor why he will not release them for burial.”

Friday’s prayer vigil will run from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. outside the Medical Examiner’s Office at 321 University Ave.

Other participating groups include Priests for Life and the Christian Defense Coalition.

“Now is the time to act before a decision is made to cremate or discard these babies in the trash as medical waste!” Hawkins said.

“After the horror and pain they experienced in life, we owe these children the honor of a funeral and the remembrance of their lives that touched our nation.”

Gosnell was two months ago convicted of three counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of three infants born alive at his clinic and with a slew of other offenses for performing illegal, late-term abortions.
