Evelin Valibayova of Quincy disappeared from her apartment in 2011, but new developments may shed some light on her case.

Norfolk County District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey, State Police and Quincy police are renewing the call for public assistance in solving what they believe is a homicide, the Patriot Ledger reports.

For the first time, Morrissey announced that “substantial blood evidence” was found in Valibayova’s North Quincy apartment, and that investigators were able to match it to her DNA.

“We believe very strongly that there is foul play involved, and that she may, in fact, have been murdered,” he said.

David Traub, a spokesman for Morrissey, told the Boston Globe on Tuesday that authorities have identified a person of interest in the case, but he would not elaborate.

Two years ago on July 16, Evelin left her job at Area Four restaurant in Cambridge, and rode the T home to North Quincy. Her boyfriend said he could not locate her the next day. He was not living in Massachusetts at the time, and police said he’s been cooperative in the investigative process.

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man seen in an MBTA surveillance photo who used Valibayova’s Charlie Card to access MBTA services, the Patriot Ledger reports.

“Although this person is likely not involved, we would like more information on how they came into possession of the card,” Morrissey said.

Evelin was also planning on subletting an apartment in the Allston-Brighton area of Boston, and police are asking that anyone who knows of the apartment’s location to reach out.

“Someone knows where that is, because they arranged the sublet or had planned to room with her,” he said. “They may not believe that what they know of her is important, but we need to talk to them.”
