Officials with the Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit on Monday released a composite sketch of a man suspected of stealing a $1,500 Gibson electric guitar Aug. 14 from a Dover music shop.

Investigators said the suspect shortly before 6 p.m. entered Earle Teat Music, located at 3098 N. DuPont Hwy, and began looking at guitars on the store’s wall.

As the shop employee was waiting on another customer, the man allegedly removed from the wall a Gibson electric guitar with an estimated value of $1,500 and ran away, sounding off the front door alarm.

Police said the employee ran to the door, where he saw the man jump into a white SUV and flee north on North DuPont Highway.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect, who is described as a 5-foot-5-inch to 5-foot-6-inch tall white male with a large build.

He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on the suspect or crime is asked to call 911, to contact Det. P. Surowiec at 302-741-2814, or to submit an anonymous tip by texting CRIMES (274637) with the keyword “DSP,” calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, by downloading the Delaware State Police Mobile Crime Tip App or by filling out this online form.
