Police: Former Drexel student set up pot customers for robberies
A former Drexel University student who allegedly turned to selling pot set up many of the customers in his lucrative business for robberies.Police allege Daniel Paitnitsky, 20, who was enrolled at Drexel into 2011, enlisted a local thug in Powelton Village to rob the marijuana customers who paid him tens of thousands of dollars per week, NBC10 reports. The two men would then split the proceeds of the robberies.
Paitnitsky, who hails from northern New Jersey, allegedly was selling 20 pounds of marijuana per week, mostly in 1- to 5-pound quantities. He was arrested Monday during a sting operation, and is charged with robbery, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and other offenses.
Melvin Lewis, 42, has been charged as the robber, NBC10 reports.
