Gwynedd-Mercy College achieves university status
Hang onto your Gwynedd-Mercy College sweatshirts and coffee mugs; they could be worth some money one day. Today, school officials announced the Montgomery County school officially changed its name today to Gwynedd Mercy University.
The name change also allows the university to add new degree programs at four locations throughout the Philadelphia region, according to a news release. One of them is the school’s new doctoral program.
“It’s responding to the needs of our world today—the students that will be coming to us, and the kinds of educational experiences they will need to have when they go out into the workforce of the next generation,” said Catherine McMahon, special assistant to the president.
In U.S. News & World Report’s new “Best Colleges” edition, Gwynedd Mercy ranks in the first tier of its category, due to high graduation and retention rates.
