Abington officials vote to install red light cameras
Abington is on track to become the first Pennsylvania suburb to install red-light cameras.
The township commissioners voted in favor of adding the devices at three heavily-trafficked intersections, the Bucks County Courier Times reported Sunday.
The cameras were approved with a 14-1 vote, but PennDOT must approve any plans before installation can begin.
Until last year, Philadelphia was the only municipality in the state that was allowed to carry the cameras. After a change to state law, 13 municipalities are considering installation.
Philadelphia installed the devices eight years ago.
